The Deployment
Standing in
formation waiting for the commander to speak,
Rumors were
rampant; they had been for a week.
Some were excited
while others did fear
About the news of
deployment they were about to hear.
One young soldier
was dreading the worst,
His wife
expecting, this would be their first.
He wants to stay
home so he can be with his wife
But this is the
military doesnt happen in real life.
The moment of
truth finally arrives
Informing the
troops to prepare their wives.
A deployment is
looming, possibly very soon,
It will involve
the entire platoon.
Just then to the
young soldier reality does hit,
Away from his
world how much worse could it get.
The dangers he
would face ; could even die.
On whom would his
family then rely?
The stress on this
young soldier is immense.
He knows this is
his job but now it makes no sense.
At one point in
time he was ready and gung ho,
But now with
expectant wife its a new show.
Fear and anxiety
he will put aside
And with his duty
and orders abide.
He is after all an
American defender
And to personal
fear he will never surrender.
So he holds the
tears and fears inside
Informs his wife,
of course she cried.
From deep inside
they gather their grit
And know that to
faith they must commit.
She will pray to
GOD to keep him from harm
And bring him home
safely to her loving arms.
For his wife and
unborn child he will pray
For GOD to
protect them while he is away.
This poem is dedicated to all of the brave men and
women who serve in our armed forces. May GOD continue to bless and
protect you. Thank you one and all for the tremendous sacrifice you make to
defend us.
